The Commercial Service and Refrigeration Technician installs, maintains, and repairs commercial refrigeration systems, including diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, and replacing parts like compressors and electrical components. Key responsibilities involve working with various equipment, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations for handling refrigerants, and maintaining detailed records of service calls.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of commercial refrigeration experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • EPA 608
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Previous Install and Control experience
  • Hold OSHA 10 and EPA Universal certifications or willing to obtain.
  • Willingness to interface with clients and effectively communicate service/project outcomes and recommendations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • The physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl, squat, kneel, grasp, lift, manipulate hand and power tools
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

  • NATE certifications preferred
  • Customer service experience with strong people skills

Responsibilities

  • Install, diagnose, and repair various commercial/industrial refrigeration and freezer units, ice machines, and related equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and to prevent breakdowns.
  • Test malfunctioning systems and components, such as coils, valves, and controls, using specialized tools and electrical/mechanical skills.
  • Flushes, recharges, and adjusts refrigeration units and systems with the proper refrigerant.
  • Replace defective parts like compressors, motors, circuit boards, and other electronic and mechanical components.
  • Maintain legible and accurate records of all service calls, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of refrigerants.
  • Provide customer service and communicate with clients about service needs and equipment issues.
