About The Position

The Commercial HVAC Estimator is responsible for preparing comprehensive cost estimates for large-scale mechanical projects, including, not limited to, office buildings, hotels, casinos, and industrial facilities. This involves analyzing blueprints, performing material "take-offs," attending project proposal meetings, submitting RFI’s, and coordinating with vendors to secure competitive pricing. This position will work from the Las Vegas, Nevada office. Pay range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 annualized salary, DOE

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–7 years of estimating experience in commercial mechanical construction.
  • Education: High School Diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or combination of education and experience, or 12+ years of estimating experience is highly preferred for senior roles.
  • Technical Skills
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with industry-standard tools: Take-off: Acrobat, Bluebeam, Revu, or STACK. Estimating: TBD Design: AutoCAD or Revit (BIM).
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) standards and local Clark County building codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensing: Not required to be licensed, knowledge of the Nevada C-21 (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) contractor requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Blueprint Analysis: Review architectural and mechanical drawings to determine the scope of work.
  • Material Take-offs: Quantify all components needed, including ductwork, piping, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, and VAV boxes.
  • Load Calculations: Perform heating and cooling load calculations (Manual N/J/S) to ensure specified equipment meets Las Vegas’s extreme climate requirements.
  • Bid Coordination: Consult and review project with designated subject matter expert to ensure proposal within company expectations.
  • Vendor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors (e.g., insulation, controls, or rigging).
  • Bid Submission: Prepare detailed proposals, including labor hours, material costs, and profit margins, for submission to General Contractors (GCs).
  • Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings and perform on-site evaluations per project requirements.
