About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, client-facing Commercial Drywall Estimator to lead preconstruction, takeoff, pricing, and proposal development for commercial projects across the North Texas market. This is not a back-office estimating role — you will actively engage with general contractors, owners, and internal operations teams to convert bids into awarded work. The ideal candidate has deep experience in the Dallas–Fort Worth commercial drywall market, strong technical estimating discipline, and the confidence to defend scope, clarify assumptions, and negotiate effectively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Commercial Drywall Estimating experience in the Dallas–Fort Worth / North Texas market (3+ years considered for exceptional candidates)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, addenda, and construction documents
  • Advanced experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines without compromising accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable in client-facing negotiations and scope discussions
  • High integrity, accountability, and ownership mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience estimating Acoustical Ceiling Tile (ACT) or specialty ceiling systems
  • Experience supporting negotiated work, conceptual budgeting, design-assist, and GMP preconstruction
  • Familiarity with North Texas project types including: Office Healthcare Education Hospitality Mission-Critical Mixed-Use Developments

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (Preferred) Equivalent field experience will be strongly considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed drywall quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications, including: Framing Insulation Gypsum board systems Related accessories and specialty components
  • Develop comprehensive estimates reflecting: Labor productivity assumptions Material pricing Equipment costs Project-specific conditions
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and constructability risks; prepare RFIs and clarifications to protect margin.
  • Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Maintain updated North Texas labor and material cost data.
  • Coordinate with internal divisions for combined scope proposals when required.
  • Prepare competitive, risk-aware bids including: Inclusions & exclusions Alternates & unit pricing Schedule impacts
  • Draft clear and protective scope letters aligned with contract documents.
  • Participate in internal bid review meetings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support value engineering initiatives while preserving scope integrity and profitability.
  • Assist in improving bid hit rates through strategic follow-up and pricing alignment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, and trade partners in the DFW region.
  • Attend and lead scope review meetings and proposal presentations.
  • Communicate assumptions clearly and negotiate scope alignment professionally.
  • Track bid outcomes and market feedback to improve pricing strategy and positioning.
  • Ensure smooth turnover to project management by clearly communicating: Scope assumptions Pricing structures Risk factors Long-lead materials and schedule constraints
  • Participate in lessons learned reviews to strengthen future estimates and reduce preventable cost exposure.
