About The Position

About the Position: Commercial Drivers use vacuum trucks to service establishments for the collection of used cooking oil or grease trap material in a safe and timely manner while being compliant with company regulations and DOT requirements and upholding our core values to improve our reputation. This job is an integral part of New Leaf’s overall process, performing onsite services so New Leaf can procure used oil, and service grease traps. Starting Salary: $30.00/hr for Class A CDL

Requirements

  • CDL A with tanker endorsement
  • Active medical card
  • Understanding of DOT regulations, including filling out DVIR reports
  • General knowledge of San Diego roadways
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, email, text messages
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Fluency in English; bilingual a plus
  • Ability to understand basic math, use charts and ruler to determine oil levels, notate pounds
  • Time management skills
  • Must be able to pass DOT-required physical and drug screen
  • Must be able to work independently and be a team player
  • Must be an excellent communicator

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill tasks electronically on a tablet, including pre, and post-trip reporting, tabulation of material collected at locations, updates for location notes, and any additional call-ins that might be added to the workload to complete a designated daily route.
  • Pump and transport liquid material (used cooking oil or grease trap water) from job sites to New Leaf Biofuel or other facilities safely and promptly.
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the workday by maintaining a friendly, helpful attitude with all current and prospective customers.
  • Communicate with the office to gain guidance for route adjustments, changes, and emergencies.
  • Offload your vehicle at the end of a shift every day with the use of a tray pan to contain spills, communicate space limitations on TEAMS if unable to offload.
  • Be on a rotating on-call schedule for service during weekends
  • Communicate container issues such as leaks, missing equipment, stolen /new competitor equipment, wrong container assignment, and replacements in a timely manner.
  • Any additional work-related tasks, visits, or errands during company hours as management deems fit.
  • Perform duties safely using proper equipment, methods, and gear (PPE).
  • Understand DOT regulations about roadways, Hours of Service, vehicles, and personnel.
  • Take ownership of cleaning, reporting, and maintaining equipment and vehicles for monthly inspection included but not limited to Ensuring pump oil is filled, primary and secondary is drained daily, Def fluid is never below 25%, and your truck is fueled, ready for the next day.
  • Understand all procedures for potential environmental hazards and report/contain any spills or other hazards promptly.
  • Adhere to all New Leaf Biofuel yard procedures and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Always exemplify New Leaf’s core values while on the job.

  • Attend monthly driver’s meetings or any other mandatory company events
