These core values are the foundation of our organization which our employees embrace in their interactions with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders, to drive financial performance and create a rewarding work environment.Who are we looking for?The Director, Commercial Director is responsible for increasing overall sales revenue, profitability, and market presence of MacDermid Autotype® and XtraForm® in the Americas through the identification, qualification, and development of new market opportunities for Automotive and Industrial Films—including the digitally receptive product range. This role focuses on accelerating growth by identifying high-value new applications, OEM programs, and market segments, and by leading coordinated commercialisation efforts to deliver sustainable sales and margin growth as quickly as possible to revenue. In addition, the role is to ensure our direct customers and distributors continue to grow, and to receive business plans, forecasts, and sales orders to support that growth. Develop and execute a comprehensive annual regional sales plan aligned with corporate objectives. Drives sales growth and operating profit performance across the assigned region. Mains direct involvement with key strategic customer accounts, including senior-level relationship management. Leads and enforces disciplined execution of the Company’s sales methodology, opportunity management, and forecasting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant business, engineering, materials science, or technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive experience within the film and smart surface industry in the Americas is a critical prerequisite.
  • Knowledge of the Automotive and Industrial Industries, including key contacts at Tier Ones, OEMs, and EMS companies.
  • Must be able to travel 50% of the time (including both domestic and internationally)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in customer-focused product development within the films market and smart surface market.
  • Proven track record of success in sales, market development, and/or technical project leadership within film applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver sustained growth through structured opportunity development and commercialization.
  • In-depth and current knowledge of users, applications, and decision‑makers across a wide range of film and smart surface market segments.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with customers, OEMs, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional and global teams.
  • Use of Sales Force and follow-up Forecasting processes.
  • Strong capabilities in the Artificial Intelligence Tools and the Microsoft suite of Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Market Identification and Opportunity Development
  • Identify, evaluate, and conduct comprehensive commercial and technical appraisals of new market and application opportunities for MacDermid Autotype Films and Smart Surface Solutions Business.
  • Identify strategically significant projects and programs utilizing MacDermid Autotype® and XtraForm® products at OEM, Tier Ones, Tier Twos, or converters.
  • Develop and execute structured market entry and commercialization plans.
  • Sales Development and Commercial Execution
  • Lead sales development activities within agreed target market segments to deliver profitable sales volume growth at acceptable contribution margins.
  • Coordinate sales development efforts with the Global Automotive and Industrial business teams to ensure optimal deployment of sales and technical resources.
  • Cross Functional and Global Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Research and Technology teams—primarily based in the UK—to ensure product designs, performance attributes, and development roadmaps align with evolving market needs.
  • Serve as a key liaison between sales, product, and technical teams across the US, UK, and other global regions to resolve issues and ensure rapid project progression.
  • Coordinate with global MacDermid Autotype stakeholders to support multi regional program launches and successful transition of manufacturing programs to other geographic regions.
  • Program Management and Executive Reporting
  • Develop and manage detailed program plans, tracking progress, risks, and expected time to revenue.
  • Provide regular, structured updates to the Commercial Director through on opportunity pipeline status, project milestones, and commercialization progress.
  • Proactively identify issues that may impact program success and lead or coordinate corrective actions.
  • Customer and Industry Engagement
  • Maintain a strong external presence with key OEMs, converters, and strategic partners.
  • Travel to existing and prospective customer facilities as required to support opportunity development.
  • Participate actively in key domestic and international project teams, customer engagements, and strategic forums.
