About The Position

The Commercial Credit Underwriter II is a critical member of the SBA Credit Management team, responsible for providing underwriting skills and credit analysis for new and existing Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customer relationships. TD Bank's SBA group has consistently maintained its position as the #1 SBA lender in our footprint for the past 8 years, and we are seeking someone who will be committed to sustaining this success moving forward. The Commercial Credit Underwriter II analyzes, underwrites and may act as the final decision authority on commercial loan applications while following sound lending practices, policies and procedures. The Commercial Credit Underwriter II ensures compliance with established underwriting guidelines, quality and production guidelines, as well as Federal Banking Regulations and Government Reporting requirements. Responsible for basic financial analysis of less complex loans/industries/Customers.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant commercial lending experience.
  • Prior lending authority preferred.
  • Proven analytical and research skills.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting and industry practices.
  • Previous experience with business and personal financial statement analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to blend technical knowledge and good business judgment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team orientation.
  • Ability to work with various levels of business partners.
  • Developed PC skills including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Nice To Haves

  • Small Business Administration/Agency experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, underwrite and may act as the final decision authority on commercial loan applications.
  • Ensure compliance with established underwriting guidelines, quality and production guidelines, and Federal Banking Regulations.
  • Conduct credit investigations and analyze financial information pertaining to relationships with Commercial Credit exposure.
  • Underwrite loans and perform historical business financial analysis and cash flows.
  • Investigate available sources of credit and financial information.
  • Research economic and market conditions relating to the company, industry and market area.
  • Identify credit applications that require credit enhancements and make decisions accordingly.
  • Render final credit decisions within individual lending authority limits.
  • Set conditions of lending and involve shared services functions as needed to expedite loan closings.
  • Maintain a satisfactory level of portfolio delinquencies and charge-offs.
