About The Position
The Commercial Credit Underwriter I at TD Bank plays a crucial role in the analysis and underwriting of commercial loan applications, ensuring adherence to sound lending practices, policies, and procedures. This position is responsible for conducting thorough credit investigations and analyzing financial information related to commercial credit exposure. The underwriter will assess less complex loans and industries, ensuring compliance with established underwriting guidelines and federal banking regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of financial analysis techniques, as the underwriter will perform historical business financial analysis and cash flow assessments, often collaborating with the borrower's accountant to gain insights into the company's accounting practices. In addition to analyzing financial statements and cash flows, the Commercial Credit Underwriter I will conduct in-depth evaluations of guarantors' financial positions, including a thorough investigation of personal financial statements and tax returns. The underwriter will also research economic and market conditions relevant to the company and industry, identifying any deviations from loan policies and mitigating key credit risks. This position requires the ability to render final credit decisions within individual lending authority limits, based on a comprehensive analysis of strengths, risks, collateral, and repayment capabilities. The role demands a high level of organization and the ability to meet turnaround requirements in a high-volume loan production environment while maintaining quality work. The underwriter will also be involved in setting lending conditions and ensuring that these conditions are met prior to loan closing, contributing to the overall success of the lending process.
