The Commercial Counsel will lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations, advise on product launches, and help scale Magnit’s legal and operational infrastructure. You will help advise our business partners on commercial strategies and narratives regarding our service offerings, with a goal of accelerating revenue creation while appropriately addressing and mitigating legal and business risks. This role is for you if you have a passion for providing creative, proactive, and pragmatic legal guidance. A successful Commercial Counsel will be both a strategic advisor and hands-on problem solver.

  • Structure, negotiate, and close a wide range of commercial agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, etc.
  • Support internal process improvements and standard practices, including creating internal legal resources (e.g., playbooks, SOPs, etc.), fine-tuning our contract lifecycle management system, and improving contracting processes and policies
  • Advise relevant stakeholders on contracting matters and mitigate exposure to the Company
  • Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on commercial terms and initiatives
  • Develop and deliver training, playbooks, and other resources to enable the Sales team (and other internal teams)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel
  • Juris Doctor degree and member in good standing of the State Bar or the District of Columbia
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • 5+ years of experience; preferably, a combination of in-house and law firm experience with professional services and/or tech companies
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain contract terms clearly to non-legal stakeholders
  • A low-ego, high-empathy orientation to internal colleagues and external partners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to prioritize and meet required deadlines
