About The Position

A leading manufacturer seeks a Commercial Contracts Attorney on a part-time, temporary basis. The position can be fully remote or hybrid and is up to twenty hours per week. The hourly rate range is $100-$140, plus benefits. This is a short-term position with an immediate start and the possibility for an extension. Primary Duties The Commercial Contracts Attorney will provide practical, timely, and business-oriented legal support to the Company, with a primary focus on reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts and related legal matters. The role supports the Legal Department in helping management assess legal risk, reduce liability exposure, and support business operations through sound legal analysis and guidance. This position may also assist with other legal matters that arise in support of Company operations, including dispute management, litigation coordination, corporate transactions, policy interpretation, legal research, internal training, and other legal projects as assigned. Additional duties include the following:

Requirements

  • 5+ years as an attorney focused on commercial contracts (drafting, reviewing, negotiating)
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Active New Jersey Bar admission or valid NJ in-house counsel license in good standing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with legal/tech systems
  • Flexible schedule; ability to handle time-sensitive matters

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to management; assess risks and recommend solutions aligned with business goals
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts; advise on terms, risks, and alternatives
  • Resolve contract-related disputes and interpretation issues in collaboration with business teams
  • Support litigation and claims management; coordinate with outside counsel on strategy and case activities
  • Offer legal support across departments (Finance, HR, Procurement, Operations, etc.) and assist with financing matters
  • Develop and deliver legal training and guidance for employees and leadership
  • Promote compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and governance standards
  • Handle additional legal projects such as research, reporting, corporate housekeeping, and administrative support
