We are seeking a Commercial Chiller Mechanic with strong experience in large-scale HVAC and refrigeration systems to support mission-critical cooling infrastructure across a multi-building federal complex. Description: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial chiller systems supporting a large federal training campus Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems Maintain and service ancillary equipment including cooling towers, pumps, motors, air handlers, flat plate heat exchangers, and associated controls Conduct system inspections, component teardowns, rebuilds, and recommissioning of chiller equipment Diagnose refrigeration system issues using manifold gauge sets, pressure-temperature charts, and electronic measuring instruments Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection in accordance with EPA regulations Install, repair, and troubleshoot compressors, heat pumps, split systems, package units, and chiller control systems Troubleshoot and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, motors, contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, and VFDs Utilize multi-meters and meggers to test voltage, current, resistance, and insulation integrity Perform soldering and brazing on refrigeration piping and components Monitor system performance, respond to alarms, and correct abnormal operating conditions to minimize downtime Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and OEM technical manuals Estimate labor, materials, and time required to complete maintenance and repair tasks Document all work performed and maintain confidentiality of sensitive work-related information Provide after-hours and emergency response support for critical cooling system failures when required Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience as an HVAC or Commercial Chiller Mechanic with direct experience on commercial chiller systems
  • EPA Universal or ASHI Refrigerant Certification (required)
  • NATE Certification – (required within 6 months of hire)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must maintain a valid REAL ID or U.S.-issued Passport
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to climb ladders, kneel, crawl, reach overhead, and work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination

Nice To Haves

  • OEM Chiller Certifications preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities
