About The Position

Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., is seeking a part-time Building Inspector to perform municipal inspection services across the Milwaukee, WI metropolitan area. This position will focus on commercial plumbing and electrical inspections while also serving as a backup for residential and commercial inspections in building, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades. In this role you will be responsible for verifying compliance with adopted codes and approved plans, communicating professionally with contractors and municipal staff, and recording results in local permit and inspection systems (including iWorQ). This role offers flexibility, professional growth, and the opportunity to support safe, code-compliant construction across the region.

Requirements

  • At least one current certification as a Wisconsin UDC Inspector (Construction, Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC) or one Commercial-level Inspector certification (Plumbing or Electrical) required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Working knowledge of the International Codes (IBC, IRC, IMC, IPC, IECC, IEBC) and Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) required.
  • Multiple certifications across UDC and commercial inspection disciplines (e.g., UDC HVAC, UDC Electrical, Commercial Plumbing, Commercial Electrical, Commercial Building).
  • 3-5+ years of building inspection or code enforcement experience.
  • Familiarity with iWorQ or other municipal permitting/inspection systems.
  • Strong plan-reading, documentation, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct commercial plumbing and electrical inspections in compliance with state and local codes.
  • Provide backup inspection coverage for residential and commercial building, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical inspections.
  • Review approved permits, plans, and specifications; verify field conditions match approved documents.
  • Document inspection results, issue correction notices when needed, and track re-inspections.
  • Record all inspection outcomes in permit/inspection systems (e.g., iWorQ).
  • Communicate code requirements and inspection results clearly to contractors, property owners, and municipal staff.
