About The Position

The main purpose of this job is to manage and service a portfolio of commercial customers, including expanding, building and maintaining strong customer relationships with a resulting high level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of full range of commercial products, credit policies, procedures and terminology
  • Basic analytical, problem-solving skills and negotiation skills
  • Ability to accurately prepare credit memos with documentation of appropriate analysis
  • Some independent decision making skills, but requires regular management oversight
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Function as a key team player simultaneously on multiple, different, and diverse teams within and including the entire Business Banking Division

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 1+ years of commercial banking experience required

Responsibilities

  • Manage a large portfolio of diverse and complex commercial relationships utilizing a high degree of critical thinking skills
  • Participate in customer outreach activities in conjunction with relationship managers as appropriate (especially those with active new credit opportunities)
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a specific number of mature commercial relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention. Present these relationships at the annual loan committee meeting.
  • Handle customer service requests for a designated portfolio of existing relationships, including loan renewals and modifications.
  • Work with Relationship Managers on credit requests, including general underwriting, loan structuring, negotiating/pricing, collateral, and analyzing industry/credit risk
  • Complete all requirements of loan booking, including negotiating terms, the review of loan documentation and assisting in the closing process for a designated portfolio of relationships, and in conjunction with the Relationship Managers and Specialists as required.
  • Monitor and track required reporting on loans, involving past dues, documentation and collateral exceptions, financial statements and borrowing bases, portfolio profitability, etc.
  • Ensure primary responsibility for management of all watch list credits, including preparation of all quarterly watch list reports and oral presentations in watch list meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned
