About The Position

The Commercial Banker I is responsible for assisting senior level commercial bankers in managing and growing commercial banking relationships. This role involves supporting senior bankers with various tasks related to new loan requests, prescreens, committee presentations, and managing maturing loans and financial/covenant exceptions. The position participates in the credit underwriting process, loan documentation review, and joint calling efforts. Key responsibilities include monitoring the credit performance of client portfolios, analyzing financial statements, collateral quality, and line usage to mitigate risk. The Commercial Banker I also engages in business development activities to identify bank prospects and develop key centers of influence, ensures compliance with loan policies, and responds to customer inquiries. The role requires documenting portfolio performance through call memos, site visits, and financial reviews, while maintaining strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.

Requirements

  • Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent, major in Business or related fields
  • One to Five years Banking experience, preferably in Credit, Portfolio Management or Commercial Banking

Responsibilities

  • Assists senior level bankers with managing their existing commercial portfolio
  • Assists with the preparation of new loan requests, prescreens, and committee presentations
  • Assists with maturing loans and financial/covenant exceptions
  • Participates in the credit underwriting process and loan documentation review
  • Participates in joint calling efforts with senior level bankers
  • Monitors the credit performance of client portfolios and alerts Bankers to changes that may require action to ensure risk mitigation and minimize potential losses
  • Reviewing financial statements and cash flows
  • Analyzing collateral quality
  • Monitoring line usage and supporting documentation
  • Performing lease analysis to recognize potential vacancies/lease expirations, etc.
  • Carries out a variety of business development activities to identify bank prospects and develop key centers of influence
  • Ensures compliance with existing loan policies and procedures
  • Receives and responds to various customer questions and assists with resolutions
  • Monitors and Documents performance of existing loan portfolio through call memos, site visits, financial collection and review, third party reports
  • Maintains a good working relationship with bank employees
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required
