About The Position
The Commercial Bank Immersion Intern position at Silicon Valley Bank and First Citizens Bank offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the commercial banking sector. This summer internship program is designed to provide development opportunities and practical work experience within the Commercial Bank, while also creating a talent pipeline for the SVB Commercial Bank Associate Development Program. Interns will engage in a variety of job responsibilities that enhance their knowledge through formal training and practical application in a commercial banking environment. Throughout the 9-week internship, interns will rotate with their cohort through various roles, gaining insights into the Innovation Economy and Commercial Bank operations. They will have the chance to interact directly with clients, assisting with client qualification, account opening, and providing client support. Additionally, interns will learn about the end-to-end loan process and the application of Credit Risk in a Commercial Bank setting. The program emphasizes building skills in professional presence, client engagement, credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk assessment. Interns will also have opportunities to meet and engage with senior and executive leaders of the bank, participate in professional development sessions, and attend networking and community service events. Each intern will be assigned a project aimed at improving a specific process or solving a problem, culminating in a wrap-up presentation to key stakeholders at the end of the internship. This immersive experience is set to take place in either the San Francisco or Boston office, providing a dynamic environment within the innovation ecosystem.
