As a key member of the commercial team, he or she will report to a Business Manager. This is a developmental role with responsibilities and training in sourcing, sales and product management functions. Role will be based at our Corporate Headquarters (Chicago) with approximately 20% travel anticipated between customer, supplier, toller visits, and tradeshows. Key responsibilities will include: SOURCING FUNCTION Develop working knowledge of raw materials, their suppliers, and function in our products. Track and report feedstock and raw material trends, market developments and their impacts. Code new raw materials, externally produced products, and new suppliers. Set up new vendors; update pricing; investigate/resolve invoice discrepancies. Generate call reports from supplier meetings. Execute Hallstar sourcing strategies and maintain professional customer/supplier relationships that encourage trust, integrity, and open communication. Coordinate with sales to win projects Work closely with Material Planners to define who to purchase from and resolve any supply issues. Ensure buying responsibly and in adherence to environmental, health and safety requirements of local governments and Hallstar. SALES FUNCTION Manage a sales territory/sales channels with direct responsibility for sales (revenue, volume, profit) and project development. Provide timely and valued responses to customers and internal teammates. Review and analyze sales reports, track KPIs to monitor performance, identify high potential opportunities, define attrition, and generate wins. Initiate new commercial projects with customers, present and review findings with innovation/ commercial development team. Earn loyalty and build relationships internally and with customers, through integrity, effort and effective support. Make product recommendations through study and training of Hallstar products and their functions. Develop annual budget for assigned sales territory. Create call reports in CRM with customer/supplier status updates. PRODUCT MANAGEMENT FUNCTION Manage the profit and loss (P&L) for assigned products. Understand and develop the ability to generate cost breakdowns, set prices, and meet annual financial objectives. Analyze feedstocks and raw material prices to understand market conditions and when to act. Cultivate relationships with Hallstar team members and know who can support completion of a task. Examine daily sales reports for pricing accuracy, new business/attrition, and monthly sales builds. Support the budget process, assess sales expectations and work towards consensus. Initiate price change process as required consistent with both annual financials and strategic plan. Attend meetings with suppliers, tollers, sellers and their customers to absorb market pulse and emerging trends.
