First American is seeking a Commercial Associate Underwriter to join our team—playing a key role in supporting underwriting decisions and delivering quality outcomes for our customers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–4 years of title underwriting experience, with exposure to commercial transactions preferred
- Familiarity with real estate law, including applicable federal and state regulations
- Working knowledge of title and settlement processes, with an understanding of underwriting fundamentals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess risk within established guidelines
- General understanding of commercial real estate title and settlement practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively and act decisively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through
- Sound negotiation skills and a solutions-oriented mindset
Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting support and expertise to company personnel, agents, and customers related to the issuance of commercial real estate title insurance commitments and policies
- Apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority to evaluate and support the issuance of title insurance
- Partner with internal teams to provide guidance in the performance of commercial real estate settlement services
- Assist in the development and communication of underwriting standards in alignment with established company processes
- Support additional responsibilities and initiatives as needed
