Main Purpose: To perform job functions required and assigned in the fabrication of structural/piping materials per the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards. The Combo Fitter's job duties are to properly fit structure or pipe to construct an offshore platform. In addition, the Offshore Rope Access Level II Technician, under the direct supervision of a Rope Access Level III Technician or Superintendent, safely carries out fundamental inspections, upkeep, repairs, including, but not limited to: blasting, painting and rigging tasks on offshore platforms using rope access techniques and equipment. This position is located Offshore in the Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico. Essential Functions: Study engineering drawings to determine materials requirements and task sequences Read and interpret blueprint and specifications Pass required structural fitter and Pipefitter test at Partek Perform mathematical calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles, etc Measure, cut, fit, and install structural/pipe plate, pipe material, beams, plate, pipe, etc., per blueprint and job specifications Operate appropriate hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc.) Tack separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, and other alloys Locate and mark workpiece from drawings cutting lines, checking for material thickness, welding shrinkage, and other component specifications Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flames Monitor the fitting, burning, and tacking processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking distortion, or expansion of the material Straighten warped or bent parts using sledges, hand torches, and straightening procedures Assist with building a scaffold to access all areas on structure, pipe, or deck Follow fitting procedures and principles used in fabricating offshore jackets, decks, heliports, production facilities, etc. Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools. Lays out and installs piping, equipment, and other mechanical systems in compliance with construction drawings and specifications. Inspect work sites for obstructions or holes that could cause structural weakness. Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares and measuring tapes Know how to pull coordinates to find pipes and get measurements Use rope access techniques to perform basic inspections, maintenance, repairs, blasting, painting and rigging on offshore platforms under the direct supervision of a Rope Access Level III Technician or Superintendent Use welding, blasting and painting tools, equipment, and techniques in the coating and welding of offshore platforms while accessing difficult-to-reach areas Adhere to safety procedures, including proper equipment inspection, fall protection measures and communication protocols Demonstrate the knowledge and skills of a SPRAT or IRATA Rope Access Level I Technician Document and communicate work completed, including any issues or incidents Maintain climbing logbook per SPRAT/IRATA guidelines Perform basic self-rescue maneuvers Attend safety meetings and perform safety checks Assist other technicians Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
