About The Position

RQ Construction is currently seeking experienced Combination Pipe Welders to support mechanical construction projects at Kings Bay Naval Base, Georgia, and nearby areas. All work will be performed on-site at the military installation and compensated in accordance with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements applicable to that location. Since its founding in 1996, RQ Construction, LLC has established itself as a major contributor to the commercial and government design-build sector, particularly across Southern California. The company has grown to support projects nationwide and internationally, with active operations from coast to coast, including locations such as U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Puerto Rico. RQ provides full project management services across the United States, supported by field teams deployed directly to each job site. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is the preferred minimum formal education for this position. Should be supplemented by completion of a Union, private (in-house), military, or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job
  • 5 to 8 years (or equivalent) field or trade work experience as a Combination Welder in a commercial, or facilities operations setting is required; government, military, or large commercial construction experience
  • Candidates must be able to pass 6G GTAW & SMAW test before being hired.
  • CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour Certifications required (training can be provided)

  • Specific training or certificates in the following preferred (training can be provided): Trenching and shoring training Fall protection Confined space training Forklift/Manlift training and certificate Power actuated tools training and certificate Lockout/Tagout training Scissor lift/boom lift certificate EM-385

Responsibilities

  • The Combination Pipe Welder will perform a variety of welding-related tasks, including joining metal components using hand welding, flame cutting, soldering, and brazing techniques.
  • This role requires the ability to successfully complete groove weld qualification tests in all positions across multiple materials and welding processes.
  • All work is conducted on active construction sites and must meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • The role demands a solid understanding of mechanical welding practices, along with strict adherence to safety protocols and proper use of tools and equipment, in alignment with RQ Construction's operational standards.
