About The Position

RQ Construction is hiring skilled Combination Pipe Welders to support mechanical construction work at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, and the surrounding areas. This is a fully on-site role performed on an active military installation, with compensation aligned to Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage requirements. Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is the baseline requirement
5-8 years of relevant field experience (or equivalent) working as a Combination Welder in commercial or facilities environments is required
Candidates must successfully pass a 6G Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding certification test prior to hire
Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications are required (training may be provided if needed)
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a hands-on welding test
All candidates considered for hire must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire
All candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for)

Nice To Haves

Completion of an apprenticeship program (union, in-house, military, or trade school) that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training
Experience on government, military, or large-scale commercial projects is strongly preferred
Specific training or certificates in the following preferred (training can be provided): Trenching and shoring, Fall protection, Confined space, Forklift/Manlift operation, Power-actuated tools, Lockout/Tagout, Scissor lift/Boom lift, EM-385

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of welding tasks, including joining metal components using techniques such as hand welding, flame cutting, soldering, and brazing
Pass groove weld qualification tests in all positions across multiple materials and welding methods
Demonstrate proficiency in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
Comply with all applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
Adhere strictly to safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment in accordance with company standards
