Advises and educates property owners, architects, builders and engineers on matters regarding building code compliance and zoning ordinances. Prepares reports on inspections; coordinates code interpretation with other inspectors or departments. Conducts and/or assists and is involved with inspections primarily with residential/commercial electrical permits with occasional residential building permit inspections as needed. Researches codes for adoption and amendments. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications: An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Combination Building Inspector II - Electrical: Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent Experience: At least four (4) years commercial/industrial experience in the electrical trade; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses and/or Certifications Required: <li> Journeyman/Master Electrical License Valid Colorado Driver's License Minimum Training Requirements: <li> ICC Residential Building, Residential Mechanical, Residential Plumbing and Commercial Electrical Inspector certification for a total of four (4) ICC certifications to achieve full combination inspector designation for hire of licensed Journeyman Electricians will be required over 18 months of employment. Training requirements to be completed within 18 months of hire include residential electrical, framing, plumbing, mechanical, gas pipe, roof, weather barrier, fire resistive, drywall, furnace/AC/water heater replacements and final inspections on newly constructed dwelling units along with all required commercial electrical inspection training Failing to obtain required certifications and/or training within stated time frames will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination Combination Building Inspector III - Electrical: Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent Experience: At least two (2) years performing progressively responsible commercial inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses and/or Certifications Required: <li> Journeyman/Master Electrical License Valid Colorado Driver's License Minimum Training Requirements: <li> Commercial Building Inspector, Commercial Mechanical Inspector, Commercial Plumbing Inspector, Commercial Electrical Inspector, Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner and Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner. Failing to obtain required certifications and/or training within stated time frames will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of commercial and residential building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural codes, ordinances and regulations. Knowledge of commercial and residential building inspection criteria. Skill in reading blue prints, architectural drawings, and engineering drawings. Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information, such as building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes, the Town ordinance, and architectural drawings. Ability to utilize a variety of tools and equipment, such as architect and engineering scales. Ability to drive to and physically access construction sites to perform inspections in varying weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand on a ladder, pinch or grip objects, talk and hear. Exposure to adverse environmental conditions is possible including dirt, dust, odors, fumes and noise extremes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Excellent communications skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products. Physical Demands Moderate physical work to include lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects and materials up to 25 pounds Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens Work Environment: Works outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals Equipment Used: This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment Candidate must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
