About The Position

The Combi Driver is responsible for material movement, job staging, and part preparation throughout the Fabrication department. This role ensures smooth production flow by kitting jobs, supporting machine operators, and transferring materials and finished goods between workcenters. Material Handlers(Combi Drivers) operate forklifts, overhead cranes, Combi lifts, and other material handling equipment to safely and efficiently support production needs. They also perform system transactions to maintain inventory accuracy and production alignment.

Requirements

  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified required.
  • Strong understanding of safe material handling practices.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with ERP systems or willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Physically able to lift, move, and carry materials up to 50lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on inventory accuracy and process compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating overhead cranes and material handling equipment preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support job staging, kitting, part preparation, and material handling across multiple fabrication workcenters.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Ensure all physical moves (incoming, in-process, and completed parts) are accurately recorded in the MES/ERP systems via provided tablets or computers.
  • Maintain organized staging and inventory areas to support efficient production flow.
  • Follow standard work documentation and SOPs for role specific areas.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Job Staging: Prepare and stage jobs for welding and assembly by organizing parts into kits based on job requirements.
  • Part Preparation: Remove, clean, label, and sort parts from machine centers to prepare them for the next operation.
  • Assist operators by prepping raw materials and maintaining steady material flow at workcenters.
  • Production Flow: Move parts and job kits between workcenters via established routes to maintain continuous workflow and balance upstream/downstream operations.
  • Raw Material Handling: Operate Combi lifts to unload delivery trucks, store raw materials in inventory racks, and deliver them to initial workcenters.
  • Process material receipts
