About The Position

Testing and Commissioning engineers are a front-line field engineering force that commissions, maintains, and troubleshoots transmission and distribution level protection and control systems inside ComEd substations. System and equipment types include protective relays, SCADA, substation automation, power and control equipment, fiber-optic, power line carrier, and revenue metering. The Testing & Commissioning Engineering Technical Development group is a small team within TCE dedicated to improving technical skills and knowledge for engineers. This team creates, maintains, facilitates and instructs a combination of hands-on exercises and of classroom style courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 2 - 4 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
  • General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with small and large groups including management levels.
  • Technical experience related to electrical power equipment, SCADA or protective components.
  • Highly organized and skilled with Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing and commissioning engineering activities associated with installation of new equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance of existing equipment.
  • Create commissioning plans.
  • Write livening procedures.
  • Create and run test plans.
  • Analyze test results compared to expected values.
  • Support corrective maintenance to repair identified equipment issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on protection system components and SCADA.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance, and instruction of programs that set strong foundational knowledge and improve skills for engineers.
  • Provide technical training to other transmission and substation engineers.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $83,200.00/Yr. - $114,400.00/Yr.
