About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Colorectal Surgery team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with Surgeons, Fellows, Residents, Advance Practice Providers (APPs), and Support Staff to care for patients with colorectal concerns in an outpatient setting. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, a high level of clinical competency, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to team dynamics. Responsibilities include assisting Surgeons in the outpatient clinic, independent clinical practice, and performing in-office procedures. The new hire will manage patients with anorectal disorders, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), Colorectal Cancer, and assess patients in our Colorectal Physiology Center (CPC) for fecal incontinence and defecatory dysfunction. Emphasis will be placed on implementing treatment plans, providing pre-operative and post-operative surgical care, and helping patients adhere to our Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner for NP applicants.
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing for NP applicants.
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing for NP applicants.
  • Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner for NP applicants.
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program for PA applicants.
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing for PA applicants.
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA for PA applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Colorectal Surgery team to care for patients in the outpatient setting.
  • Assist Surgeons in the outpatient clinic.
  • Engage in independent clinical practice and perform in-office procedures.
