About The Position

The Development Director for Colorado Trout Unlimited (CTU) is responsible for leading fundraising efforts to support coldwater conservation initiatives. This role involves creating and executing strategic fundraising plans, managing relationships with individual and corporate donors, and overseeing various fundraising campaigns and events. The position is based in Denver, Colorado, with a focus on unrestricted revenue generation through diverse funding sources.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated experience in creating strategic fundraising plans.
• Direct experience in donor development, including individual and institutional cultivation.
• Ability to engage effectively with volunteers.
• Commitment to conservation and coldwater initiatives.
• Ability to travel statewide (~15% of time) and work flexible hours.

• Experience with online giving campaigns and crowdfunding initiatives.
• Familiarity with donor management software systems.

Responsibilities

• Create an overarching strategic plan for donor development within the first six months.
• Identify and prioritize targets for cultivation and manage relationships with donors.
• Oversee individual donor giving programs and maintain relationships with key donors.
• Develop and implement cultivation plans for high-potential donors.
• Coordinate with the Executive Director and Communications Coordinator for donor engagement.
• Manage corporate partnerships and recruit new business supporters.
• Secure major sponsors for key events like the River Stewardship Gala and Troutfest.
• Utilize donor management software to track and manage donor information.
• Assist in developing and submitting grant requests for restricted funds.
• Provide development content for CTU's blog, website, and social media outlets.
