About The Position

The Colorado State Patrol is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to serve as a Police Communication Intern or Technician. This role involves providing critical communication support to law enforcement agencies, ensuring public safety through effective dispatching and emergency response. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to serving the community. Training will be provided, and the role is essential for maintaining safety and security in Colorado.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and a Colorado resident.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, with typing skills of approximately 35 words per minute.
• Willingness to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays after training.
• For Police Communication Technician: One year of full-time 911 emergency dispatch experience within the last five years.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support to law enforcement agencies during emergency situations.
• Operate radio consoles and computer terminals to receive, record, and transmit police communications.
• Make critical decisions that impact emergency situations and the safety of first responders.
• Assist citizens and visitors by providing information and assistance during emergencies.
• Work independently while under public scrutiny, maintaining professionalism in stressful situations.
