SportiqePhoenix, AZ

About The Position

We're adding an experienced Production Artist - Color Separator at our Phoenix apparel screen print facility. The best candidates are reliable, detail-obsessed, and bring both advanced Adobe skills and a solid foundation in apparel screen print design. This role requires precision within clear quality standards, but you'll need to adapt quickly as priorities shift. You'll follow established processes while staying flexible when production needs change. Reporting to the Pre-Production Supervisor, you'll manage your own workflow and make independent decisions — but you'll stay connected to Creative and Production teams through regular check-ins, collaborative problem-solving, and the occasional all-hands-on-deck sprint. The payoff? Seeing your work printed flawlessly on press.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.
  • Strong understanding of screen printing processes and color theory.
  • Familiarity with vector and raster art, spot colors, CMYK, and simulated process.
  • Experience with RIP software.
  • You value being part of a collaborative team and can balance focus time with cross-functional communication.
  • You're comfortable asking questions, flagging issues early, and jumping in to support the team when needed."
  • Strong organization skills for file archiving and order processing using Google Workspaces.
  • Ability to work independently at a computer for long periods, prioritize and manage time effectively, and self-check jobs for accuracy.
  • You catch errors others miss — misaligned layers, incorrect color channels, file naming inconsistencies — and you self-check obsessively before handing off work.
  • Getting it right the first time matters more to you than moving fast.
  • You enjoy solving complex color separation challenges that others find tedious.

Responsibilities

  • Artwork Preparation: Separate complex digital images into individual color channels or spot colors for screen printing.
  • Technique Application: Apply halftoning, trapping, and underbasing for different print methods (spot color, CMYK, simulated process).
  • Printing Optimization: Adjust for screen mesh counts, ink limitations, and press capabilities.
  • Color Correction: Calibrate colors for accurate reproduction, adjusting hues and contrast.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Creative and Production teams to finalize designs and resolve print issues on press. Also, assist with Screen Room/Reclaim as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Quality Control - Being the quality gatekeeper who protects Sportiqe's standards: Thoroughly review all artwork to catch and correct any errors before production.
  • Approve test prints and ensure the product meets Sportiqe-quality standards.
  • Contributing to a fast-paced team where your precision keeps production moving.

Benefits

  • You'll report to a Pre-Production Supervisor who values collaboration, open communication, and team problem-solving.
  • Expect a supportive, communicative working relationship — not micromanagement.
  • Paid holidays, paid sick time and generous PTO policy including your birthday
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision HSA money provided by the company and a 4% 401k match
  • Free access to Employee Assistance Programs
  • Stable and established brand for 20 years, so no fluctuating hours or loss in time.
  • 40 hours a week, M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • Free apparel, monthly lunches, monthly breakfast, and other events
  • Our facility is air conditioned!
