About The Position

The Network Facilities Technician role involves overseeing new common system and infrastructure installation and capacity augment projects, along with day-to-day maintenance and preventative maintenance (PM) of assigned FirstLight facilities. This position combines responsibilities for data center process and compliance activities, including physical security at the data center, customer enrollment, escorting customers, shipping and receiving, generating reports, and data entry. The technician will coordinate and oversee installation, repair, and routine maintenance for each assigned facility's assets, ensuring compliance with established protocols and standards.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of CLR's, Floor Plan diagrams, and One Line power diagrams.
  • Ability to work under a Service order workflow from internal systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory control protocols.
  • Experience with SharePoint access and departmental pages.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting processes.
  • Basic understanding of AC / DC power architecture and operational fundamentals.
  • Basic knowledge of Utility and Emergency Power Architecture.
  • Basic Field Test equipment operation skills.

  • Experience in managing multiple contract service providers and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for new requests.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee new common system and infrastructure installation and capacity augment projects.
  • Monthly common system capacity reporting for assigned facilities.
  • Day-to-day maintenance and PMs of assigned FirstLight facilities.
  • Coordinate internal resources, contractors/vendors for existing facilities and new construction.
  • Perform maintenance and installation activities on major network infrastructure components.
  • Work with Network Design Engineering to facilitate clean SOW packages.
  • Understand power and grounding, HVAC / UPS architecture fundamentals.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and reporting for infrastructure components.
  • Manage oversight of contract labor for installation, testing, and maintenance of infrastructure.
  • Participate in On-Call Rotation and be available as Essential Personnel in emergencies.
  • Assist with Field Operations installation tasks when necessary.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide security services at the Data Center including access control and customer escorts.
