About The Position

The County of Ventura is seeking highly motivated college students for various departments throughout Ventura County. This position, titled Student Worker III, offers an opportunity to gain work experience in the public sector while serving the residents of Ventura County. Student Workers assist regular employees with routine tasks and specific assignments under supervision, which may include clerical work in an office or manual labor in departments maintaining parks, beaches, and roads. The role is designed for students enrolled in college courses, and incumbents may be eligible for bilingual incentives depending on operational needs and certification of skills.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in at least nine (9) units of academic/technical college/university courses at the undergraduate level OR at least six (6) units at the graduate level.
• Some departments may require proof of enrollment in a minimum of twelve (12) units of academic/technical college/university courses at the undergraduate level.
• Must provide proof of academic/technical college/university class enrollment.
• Some jobs may require a valid California driver license.

Responsibilities

• Performs data entry.
• Shelves books.
• Files materials and pulls material from established files.
• Opens and sorts mail.
• Delivers mail and supplies.
• Proofreads written material.
• Assists with research.
• Operates office equipment and machines.
• Assists with collection and analysis of statistical data.
• Assists with conducting special studies in a variety of occupational fields.
• Assists with the preparation and the presentation of oral and/or written reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
