About The Position

Easterseals Massachusetts (ESMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that children and adults with disabilities have equal opportunities to live, learn, work, and play. We are seeking a College Navigator / College Student Support Specialist to provide essential on-campus and virtual support to college students with disabilities as they transition into college life and academics without IEP accommodations. This role is crucial in helping students navigate their college experience, particularly in Southeastern Massachusetts, including institutions such as Bridgewater State University, Massasoit Community College, University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, and Dean College. The College Student Support Specialist will be responsible for developing individualized action plans each semester that align with each student's goals related to their transition into college. This includes providing one-on-one coaching to help students develop and support concrete goals in higher education and independent living, fostering independence in all aspects of their academic journey. The specialist will also assist students in enhancing their executive functioning skills, such as time management and organization, while identifying potential barriers and collaborating with students and college staff to problem-solve effectively. In addition to direct support, the specialist will advocate for students by identifying their needs and communicating these to college staff. Maintaining ongoing documentation related to client progress and communicating with referring agencies and program managers is essential. The role requires the ability to assist students in navigating online learning platforms like Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle, and to help them understand the current college culture and expectations. The position demands full-time availability from Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to start as early as 8 am and work until 5 pm, depending on student schedules. Reliable daily transportation is necessary for commuting between campuses.
