About The Position

Cirrus Aircraft is offering a part-time internship opportunity in Machining at their Metal Works facility in Duluth, MN. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in Machining, Welding, or other Technical Manufacturing or engineering programs. The role involves hands-on experience in various machining processes and is set to run for one year, from mid-September through August 2025, with flexible scheduling options available.

Requirements

• Current student in a Machining, Welding, or other Technical Manufacturing or engineering program.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Commitment to complete the entire duration of the internship.
• Ability to secure local housing for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication of machined piece parts and tooling, prototypes, molds, and tooling fixtures using models, blueprints, drawings, and verbal directions.
• Operation of vertical and horizontal CNC Milling machines, including machine set-up and program adjustment.
• CNC lathe operation and set-up, including live tooling.
• TIG welding of structural aircraft components using Chromoly steel, tube, and plate.
• Sheet metal assembly, including riveting with pulled, squeezed, or bucked rivets.
• Metal surface finishing technologies such as abrasive blasting, chemical surface treatments, and powder-coating.
• Interpretation of manufacturing work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Job tracking and execution using software.
• Collaboration with a high-performing team and adherence to workplace safety culture.
