About The Position

Fairmont State University invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach courses in multiple disciplines. Adjunct instructors play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students and contributing to the academic mission of the university. Typically, adjunct instructors teach one but no more than three courses per term depending on need or availability of academic units.

Requirements

• A master's degree or higher in a program of study in the discipline in which they may be hired to teach is required.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the subject area of the course(s) to be taught.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student-centered learning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Blackboard experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses as scheduled and meet all designated class periods.
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, lectures, and assignments.
• Engage students in active learning and facilitate meaningful class discussions.
• Assess student learning through examinations, quizzes, and other assignments.
• Provide timely feedback to students and maintain records of their progress.
• Maintain regular office hours for student consultation and support.
• Submit assessment reporting data and materials and participate in departmental assessment activities, as required by supervisor.
• Post syllabus and maintain gradebook in Blackboard or other official online course delivery platform.
