About the position

The College Intern for the Career Pathways Summer program will work with students as a mentor for the High School's Tech Career Prep Program. This program is part of the career pathways initiative, providing Burlington High School students with opportunities for career exploration and work-related learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and guidance to up to 25 students working on technology projects and certifications.
  • Assist students with projects focused on software development, cyber security, and data science, involving languages and tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, Python, AI, Unity, cloud computing platforms, Excel, and Tableau.
  • Assist program supervisor with logistical tasks including taking attendance and administering programmatic surveys.
  • Complete daily and end of program surveys in a timely manner.
  • Specify interest in working at one or both program sessions, which occur in spring and summer, each approximately 100 hours.

Requirements

  • Declared or Intended BA or BS in computer science or a related field by the start of the program.
  • Experience with at least one programming language and project experience.
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience, especially in computer science, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other team members and share classroom responsibilities.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.

Benefits
