About The Position

There are two (2) available positions for this opportunity, one summer internship and one full-year internship. As an intern, you will assist the Facilities & Infrastructure Mechanical Engineers with daily operations throughout the facility, including researching and documenting mechanical systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, fire sprinklers/suppression, elevators/escalators, passenger loading bridges and baggage handling systems, and coordinating with other trades on any Port of Seattle critical mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a mechanical engineering program or related field.

  • You’re able to effectively process technical information in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have excellent organizational skills and the ability to organize fairly large amounts of data and stay focused when working on large data sets.
  • You have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate in writing and in-person with various Port of Seattle employees.
  • You have skill with Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • We hope you have experience with AutoCAD.
  • We hope you have an interest in facility infrastructure systems.
  • Previous exposure to design and/or construction processes desired.

Responsibilities

  • Research record documents such as plans, specifications, and technical reports to verify existing equipment and infrastructure locations and capacities.
  • Assist in developing and managing infrastructure projects.
  • Field verification and testing involving mechanical areas, ramp, construction sites, and equipment rooms.
  • Edit drawings and Excel spreadsheets for existing mechanical systems throughout SEA Airport.
  • Assist in gathering and formatting historical information to be used for the preparation of facility master record drawings.
  • Compile asset management data (location, condition, nameplate data) and verify against existing asset management database.
  • Exposure to airport mechanical control systems.
