About The Position

BASIS is seeking experienced candidates for a College Guidance Counselor to join their team in the San Antonio Metro Area for the 2026/2027 school year. BASIS Ed School teams offer an opportunity to be deeply involved in a dynamic, exciting, and unpredictable academic community. The role is within a highly social, supportive, and collaborative environment. The College Counselor will be responsible for teaching a daily college counseling workshop to 12th graders, completing college counseling reports, serving as the Senior Research Project (SRP) coordinator, organizing college admissions visits each fall, conducting family college counseling evenings, meeting one-on-one with 9th and 10th graders during the academic year, instructing students on completing college admissions applications and financial aid applications, and obtaining recommendations. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for developing new program ideas, co-leading college information evening sessions, and developing and maintaining college planning and career assessment and readiness software such as Naviance.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • A high GPA in his/her major
  • Excellent employment recommendations
  • Experience working with students and parents
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance

  • Strong communication skills in speaking with parents, students
  • Editing essays
  • Writing letters of recommendation
