About The Position

The College Everywhere Academic Advisor at Germanna Community College is responsible for providing comprehensive advising services to students enrolled in the College Everywhere program. This role focuses on helping students achieve their educational and career goals through personalized guidance, support, and resources. The advisor will work closely with students to assess their strengths, understand degree options, and ensure they progress towards graduation in an online learning environment.

Requirements

• Advising experience at the college level, preferably at a community college.
• Knowledge of office productivity software, PeopleSoft, Navigate, and other educational technologies.
• Experience giving presentations.
• Ability to provide students with accurate information about academic programs and services.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Knowledge of Germanna Community College Policies and Procedures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Previous advising experience in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Meet with prospective College Everywhere students to share program information and assess student readiness and goals.
• Advise students on degree and course options related to their goals.
• Maintain records of advising sessions and student performance.
• Identify student strengths and weaknesses.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of institutional policies.
• Connect students with resources such as counselors or tutors.
• Create an academic plan in Navigate for each student to complete their program in one year.
• Provide high-quality online, group, and face-to-face academic support services.
• Make referrals to support services including tutoring, Career and Transfer services, and Counseling Services.
