About The Position

The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (AYSPS) seeks an energetic, detail-oriented, and service-focused HR Officer to manage and oversee all faculty, staff, and student employment actions for the college and its units. This position serves as a trusted partner to college leadership, business managers, and central HR, providing expertise in HR policy, compliance, employee relations, and workforce planning aligned with the school's academic mission. The HR Officer will supervise an HR Coordinator and collaborate with departments across the college to ensure consistency, fairness, and efficiency in all HR operations. This is an in-person position based in the Dean’s Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field.
  • Three years of progressive HR experience with supervisory/management responsibility, ideally in higher education or a large, complex organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior HR experience in a larger organization and/or university setting, including faculty HR processes (tenure, promotion, adjunct hiring).
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations, Board of Regents policies, and higher education HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems such as OneUSG, PeopleAdmin, Interfolio, Taleo, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with data reporting, workforce analytics, and position classification/compensation review.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee faculty reviews (promotion and tenure, annual reviews, administrator reviews, endowed chair reviews) through Interfolio.
  • Coordinate faculty recruitment and search processes using PeopleAdmin and ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity guidelines.
  • Manage and approve staff position reviews, classifications, searches, and offers.
  • Oversee student worker, temporary, and adjunct hiring processes via the HR Coordinator.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for payroll and contract-related issues in OneUSG.
  • Advise college leadership and employees on HR policies, employee relations concerns, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal/state labor laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title IX), Board of Regents policies, and university regulations.
  • Liaise with Central HR on FMLA/ADA requests, leaves, and sensitive cases.
  • Provide workforce data, metrics, and analysis to support decision-making around staffing, retention, and compensation.
  • Develop and monitor HR dashboards to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support college-wide training and onboarding efforts for faculty and staff on HR policies, systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote professional development opportunities for staff and supervisors to strengthen HR knowledge.
  • Coordinate clearance form processes and separation procedures.
  • Manage special projects assigned by the Dean’s Office.
