About The Position
As a member of the College Counseling Team at IDEA Montopolis College Prep, the College Counselor plays a crucial role in executing the graduation plan and facilitating college enrollment for all students at the assigned campus. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to helping students navigate the complexities of the college research, admissions, and enrollment processes. The College Counselor will implement various initiatives aimed at educating students about the importance of college education and will work diligently to ensure that all students are prepared for their post-secondary journeys. In this fast-paced and rapidly expanding environment, the College Counselor will be responsible for achieving college matriculation goals. This role requires a proactive approach, as the counselor will need to engage with students, families, and faculty to foster a college-going culture within the school. The position involves significant interaction with students, guiding them through the college application process, and providing support in areas such as financial aid and scholarship applications. The College Counselor will also be expected to travel up to approximately 25% annually for districtwide events and professional development opportunities. This is a grant-funded position, which means that while there may be opportunities for funding extensions, there is no guarantee of ongoing employment beyond the grant period. The College Counselor will be expected to work exclusively on activities that are allowable under the grant program, ensuring that all responsibilities align with the objectives set forth by the funding source. The role is critical in ensuring that students not only graduate but also successfully transition to higher education institutions, with a focus on achieving high rates of college acceptance and enrollment.
