The job of College & Career Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing a wide variety of confidential administrative support to the counseling department, administration department, District College and Career Readiness Lead Specialist; with specific responsibilities for providing students and parents with information on career and/or post high school educational/vocational opportunities, university and community college requirements; administering and interpreting career assessment tools; coordinating assigned projects and planning on site presentations by college, career and military representatives. This job reports to Building Assistant Principal Essential Functions College & Career Support Provides and assists students with College & Career support with the following (e.g. college & career advisement, college applications, career technical school application, scholarships search & applications, college, financial aid search, FAFSA Completion, Naviance tasks and activities) Provides college and career support to families when requested. Assists Counseling Department throughout the year with the following (e.g. reviews ECAP tasks completion, capture future college and career plans, complies college acceptance data, compiles scholarship awards data, collects post-grad career data, college readiness testing Student & Parent Outreach Schedule, advertise, coordinate college and career related events throughout the year (e.g. college visits, military visits, career specialty visits, FAFSA events, financial aid events, other college and career informational events) Communicate and advertise college and career related events to students and families (e.g. email, website, main calendar, naviance, school social media accounts, morning announcements, Infinite Campus) Public Communications College & Career Assistant will create weekly email communications to students and families through Naviance to notify them of upcoming college visits, career and technical visits, and newly available scholarships. College and Career Assistant will manage and update their school’s College and Career Center webpage . On the webpage they will communicate and inform the school community of the following (e.g. College & Career Center information and details, College & Career Visits, Scholarship Deadlines, upcoming College Readiness Assessments (ACT, SAT, PSAT), FAFSA information, upcoming College and Career Events, Financial Aid Information, Internship Opportunities, Summer Enrichment Opportunities, Early College Information(DE, CTE, AP, IB, AVID, PUMA, ACE, HOOP) Other College and Career Related Duties Organize and Coordinate Duties for Senior Awards Ceremony (e.g. create awards, invite speakers, communicate to students and families) Assists with Data Collection of the Senior Exit Survey (e.g. organize w/ counselors and helps monitor the completion of Senior Exit Survey, confirm with CCRI lead specialist when all seniors are complete) Senior Award Information (e.g. collect and enter senior award information into Naviance) Maintains Visual Communication and Information (e.g. ensures bulletin boards and media displays are current and up to date) Maintains College and Career Contact List (e.g. keeps a current contact list of college recruiters and CTE professionals. Attends Junior and Senior Events Throughout the School Year Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records (e.g. Inventory of college catalogues, applications and web site locations, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials for internal use and distribution as required. Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. College & Career Center website, College & Career student folders, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements. Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees (e.g. university/college information session, class visits, community service group meetings, school and college committees, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines. Research educational and/or career opportunities for the purpose of providing students with information on educational and/or career opportunities. Schedules career and/or vocational assessments of students' interests and abilities (e.g. ASVAB testing, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating career options. Solicits information and/or materials from colleges and other organizations (e.g. college, trade/technical schools, college videos, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing the Career Center reference collection and providing additional resources for students and parents. Other Functions Monitors student activities in the Career Center for the purpose of providing a safe and positive environment. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Performs general clerical tasks for the purpose of supporting the counseling department within the school site.
