About the position

The position involves instructing students with learning differences in foundational and career readiness skills within the college and career readiness department. The instructor will focus on enhancing reading comprehension and math skills, while also supporting career exploration and work readiness skills, including digital literacy. Additionally, the role includes supporting career college initiatives both academically and socially, managing the classroom, and handling paperwork and documentation, such as keeping attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students with learning differences in foundational and career readiness skills.
  • Strengthen reading comprehension and math skills.
  • Support career exploration and work readiness skills, including digital literacy.
  • Assist with career college initiatives academically and socially.
  • Manage classroom activities and maintain documentation, including attendance.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching in a K-12 or community college setting.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with students of various learning abilities and a diverse student population.
  • Willingness to help students explore various career pathways.
  • BA or BS degree required.
  • Computer skills and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to follow NC Adult Content Standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to teach both morning and afternoon sections, with morning hours from Monday to Thursday 8:30-11:30 AM and afternoon hours from Monday to Thursday 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM.
