About The Position

Bethel School District is seeking qualified in-district applicants for an 8 hours per day College and Career School to Work Coordinator for Willamette High School. Bilingual candidates and candidates experienced in working with bilingual students and families will receive preferential consideration. Nature of Work A College and Career School to Work Coordinator plans, organizes and coordinates activities to support student achievement and access to college and career opportunities. This position provides information, assistance and guidance to parents and students regarding financial aid, college admission, career education and employment opportunities. One main responsibility of this position includes supporting students in their efforts to obtain work experiences while attending high school, including recruitment of job sites (paid and unpaid) and placement of students in those sites. Additionally, this position serves as a liaison between the program, families, students, staff and community partners. Examples of Work These duties are illustrative only. For a detailed list of duties, please refer to each position description. Develops necessary documents, databases, spreadsheets, and letters, as needed. Attends meetings with local community partners. Presents information to classes about job shadowing, internships, and work experience. Prepares students for internships, job shadowing, college exploration and other program activities. Presents workshops, seminars and informational meetings. Provides support and resource materials. Assists with the coordination of financial aid night presentations and workshops for students and their families. Coordinates appropriate language interpreters for families as needed. Visits and monitors students at their job sites. Recruits classroom speakers for the transition classes at the high school. Plans and facilitates necessary stakeholder meetings. Performs other duties as assigned. Selection Factors Knowledge of educational programs offered at the high school level. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement site level outreach programs Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with families, students, administrators, staff and outside agency partners. Establish rapport with families and students from various cultural backgrounds and experiences. Ability to develop and maintain work schedules with minimum supervision. Ability to prepare materials for presentations. Ability to provide effective group presentations. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form. Ability to gather and analyze data and exercise good judgment. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to interact positively with students and adults and observe individual student abilities. Ability to safely and proficiently operate standard office equipment, as required by the position. Ability to maintain an appropriate and legal level of confidentiality regarding students, staff, and other individuals. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and prompt attendance.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college or Associate's Degree.
  • Demonstrated public relations and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with students in job sites to make effective placements.
  • Valid and unrestricted Oregon driver’s license.
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience, training, and aptitude that ensures the ability to perform the work may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Knowledge of educational programs offered at the high school level.
