About The Position

The College and Career Advisor position at Interlake High School is designed to develop and implement a comprehensive college and career education program for students in grades 9-12. This role focuses on supporting the District's instructional initiatives and ensuring that students are prepared for post-secondary opportunities through various forms of guidance and support.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with high school students.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience with Career and Technical Education Programs.
  • Previous experience in employment placement, community engagement, counseling services, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive college and career education program in collaboration with school-based staff and the Director of CTE.
  • Serves as a liaison to Washington Network for Innovative Careers (WANIC).
  • Collaborates with the Student Enrollment Office for registration and orientation for students enrolled in WANIC.
  • Works with Special Education, Gifted Services, Language Acquisition, and other departments to ensure compliance with individual educational needs.
  • Engages students in college and career awareness through varied settings (1:1, small group, classroom, and large group).
  • Provides career counseling and support for the college application process, including the development of portfolios and application materials.
  • Organizes and facilitates post-secondary visits from colleges and universities.
  • Conducts meetings, workshops, and trainings for students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members.
  • Provides logistical support for field trips and activities involving CTE students.
  • Meets regularly with school-based staff to support students with a focus on graduation rates.
  • Oversees Learning Centers to engage students in college and career readiness skills.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
