New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) is a coordinating agency for the City of New York. The agency plans and prepares for emergencies, educates the public about preparedness, coordinates emergency response and recovery, and collects and disseminates emergency information. The agency maintains a disciplined unit of emergency management personnel including but not limited to attorneys, responders, planners, watch commanders, logisticians, community outreach, communications, administrative and support staff to identify and respond to various hazards. The mission of the Planning and Resiliency (P&R) division is to prepare the City to respond and adapt to emergencies through collaborative, scalable planning; comprehensive interagency coordination; and advancing recovery and resiliency. To execute this mission, the P&R division includes Interagency Coordination with an assistant commissioner leading three units made up of subject matter experts in Health and Medical, Human Services, and Critical Infrastructure; Resiliency and Recovery with an assistant commissioner leading the Resiliency Implementation and Resiliency and Recovery Planning units; and the Planning unit. The Health and Medical unit works with New York City agencies and public health agencies, associations, hospitals, and emergency medical services on critical surge, response and recovery issues, to prepare for and respond to incidents with significant public health impacts. The Health and Medical unit is looking for a college aide to support the WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) program at NYCEM. The college aide will be responsible for administrative and operational tasks, including note taking, project management tracking and strategic planning support.
