About The Position

The Collector at Frontwave Credit Union is responsible for the timely collection of funds and resolution of delinquent accounts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and the Credit Union's policies. This role emphasizes service excellence and continuous improvement, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing the quality of life for members through exceptional service and technology.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year collection experience in a collection environment, preferably a credit union or similar financial institution.

Responsibilities

• Assist members, employees, and authorized parties with information regarding delinquent and/or negative accounts.
• Comply with The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
• Achieve department and individual production goals as set by Collections Management.
• Handle all communications with members via verbal or written methods.
• Generate and mail appropriate collection correspondence according to established timelines.
• Negotiate and establish repayment arrangements within defined guidelines following review of terms of credit contract.
• Utilize all methods for skip tracing of delinquent accounts.
• Update account information and status.
• Assign vehicle loans for repossession according to policy and procedure.
• Clearly document all collection activity within the collections platform.
• Review records and transactions to resolve misapplied payments and research account transactions to ensure payments are properly credited.
• Assist in the training of collection personnel.
• Keep management apprised of collections status and efforts.
• Offer automated services such as ACH, Direct Deposit, and Allotment to assure recurring payments.
