The Collections Representative position at Optum is a vital role within the Billing and Collections department, primarily responsible for performing medical billing functions and providing administrative support. This position is designed for individuals who are committed to delivering superior customer service while ensuring the accuracy of invoices and resolving billing discrepancies. The role requires interaction with customers and various ancillary departments to gather necessary support data, which is crucial for maintaining invoice accuracy. The Collections Representative will manage the preparation of invoices and complete the reconciliation of billing with accounts receivable, which may also involve quality assurance and auditing of billing activities. In this full-time position, employees will have the flexibility to work both from home and the office, as it is a hybrid role. The office is located at 5130 Sunforest Dr., Tampa, FL, and employees are expected to work some days onsite and some days remotely. The role requires a commitment to working as early as 7:00 am, and there may be occasions where overtime is necessary to meet business needs. The position also includes a comprehensive training program lasting 1-3 weeks, with training hours starting at either 7:30 am or 8:00 am from Monday to Friday. The Collections Representative will be expected to consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate a commitment to quality customer service. This includes representing the company professionally and adhering to all company policies and procedures, particularly regarding the protection of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA standards. The role also involves maintaining a current working knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes, performing electronic claims submissions, and analyzing information to identify potential reasons for billing discrepancies. The representative will work closely with internal partners and external stakeholders to resolve billing issues and ensure timely submission of claims.
