About The Position

The Collections Paralegal will assist attorneys and collections personnel by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research; investigations; fact checking; and legal group litigation reporting. This is a fully remote position.

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Previous insurance industry related experience preferred.
  • Collections litigation experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as BHDIC’s primary point of contact for third-party collections agencies, outside counsel and in-house attorneys to provide updates, gather documentation, and manage litigation from initial complaint through post-judgment litigation.
  • Drafts and edits legal documents including pleadings, subpoena responses, affidavits, and releases.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, and other sources to assist with legal requests.
  • Travel as necessary to serve as a witness or legal representative for the company in court proceedings and mediation sessions related to collections matters.
  • Assists attorneys with correspondence to third-party vendors and collections law firms.
  • Develops and maintains reporting on litigated matters.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
