There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) seeks a Collections Manager of Echinoderms. NHMLAC's Echinoderm collection is one of the largest in the United States. It has synoptic worldwide coverage, with exceptional representation from the Eastern Pacific region, and contains many type specimens, historical holdings from the early 20th century, important expeditionary and regional components, and valuable environmental survey specimens. The Collections Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the echinoderm collection, including processing incoming and outgoing loans, cataloguing and integrating new specimens, specimen identification, maintaining and improving records in NHMLAC's EMu database, conserving and organizing specimens, managing physical improvements and digitization projects, and facilitating the use of the collection by researchers. They will hire, train, and supervise volunteers, students, and interns engaged in collections work. They will collaborate with other collecting departments to manage shared space and facilities, maintain high standards of collections care, and uphold NHMLAC's policies, and will support the needs of other NHMLAC departments through collection access and subject matter expertise. Echinoderms is one of several NHMLAC invertebrate zoology collections, and the Collections Manager will have the opportunity to work with staff from other collections on multi-taxon projects and initiatives.
