About The Position

The primary responsibility of an AMS Collections is responsible for managing and recovering outstanding payments from patients and/or their guarantor for medical services rendered before accounts are recommended for bad debt. They ensure accurate billing, follow up on unpaid balances, and resolve discrepancies in accounts.

Requirements

• 1-3 years' experience in a medical office with an emphasis on Guarantor Cash Collections and Customer Service
• Basic knowledge of medical collections, Bad Debt, Financial Assistance, Third-Party liability, Returned Mail, etc.
• Working knowledge of Basic Accounting Principles and Medical Billing Terminology
• Basic knowledge of third-party insurance plans
• Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong mathematical skills
• Basic typing skills with an emphasis on accuracy

Responsibilities

• Operating on a high level of professionalism and strictly adhering to all debt collection rules and regulations
• Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
• Receive inbound as well as make outbound phone calls to patients assisting with resolving outstanding balances
• Oversee patient billing work and ensuring that payments are collected and posted in a timely fashion
• Assist in the collection process by reviewing accounts and following up on outstanding balances
• Communicated effectively with patients to resolve payment issues
• Document collection efforts and updated account statuses in our billing system
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to billing
• Responding to patient inquiries and setting up alternative pay plans if necessary
• All other duties as assigned.
