Job Overview Our Collectors create payment solutions with our customers by handling the collection activity on incoming and outgoing calls.  If you enjoy working with customers, using fact-finding skills, and working in a fast-paced call center environment - join our team.  Some weekend availability is required. Collectors are responsible for handling the collection activity on incoming and outgoing calls regarding early age delinquent accounts. Collectors are also responsible for performing investigative work to locate customer contact information, entering appropriate coding while dispositioning in accordance with policy and procedures, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  One to three months related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.  Must be able to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, and feel. Requires close vision.
  • Other Skills:  Ability to provide outstanding customer service to external and internal customers on a consistent basis.  Ability to take control of and resolve customer issues utilizing active listening skills.  Ability to adapt quickly to changing customer expectations and needs. Ability to be a self-starter who is comfortable taking the initiative.  Strong decision-making abilities. Strong analytical skills. Ability to navigate multiple computer applications and work from a dual monitor setup.  Ability to complete financial transactions accurately and proficiently.
  • Work Hours:  Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and/or make telephone connections with customers on delinquent accounts.
  • Communicate with other departments within MCCS to research customer delinquent accounts.
  • Assist with on-the-job training of new associates and cross training.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
