About The Position

Chamberlain University is seeking a Visiting Professor to implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession. Teaching will primarily occur onsite in a clinical setting with one of our clinical partners, typically involving 12-hour rotations (7a-7p) for three to four consecutive days. The role includes planning clinical experiences, providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students, and offering documented feedback on student performance. The professor will also orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures, develop written clinical assignments, and may teach didactic course content under supervision. The position requires keeping the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues and concerns, with reporting to the dean or assistant dean.

Requirements

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license in Minnesota.
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required to teach at specific clinical partner sites.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
  • Teaches onsite in a clinical setting with one of the clinical partners.
  • Plans clinical experiences and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Evaluates and provides documented feedback to students on their performance.
  • Available for remediation of students as required.
  • Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures.
  • Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base and skill competency.
  • Grades homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, and clinical paperwork in a timely manner.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Keeps course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.

Benefits

  • Compensation rate between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience.
  • Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law.
