About The Position

Head Start is a federally funded early childhood program that promotes school readiness by providing comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and family support services to eligible children and families. Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a General Education Paraeducator to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in Head Start classrooms throughout the division. Unique to this position, as a Collaborative Paraeducator, this role will require travel to different schools to best support the needs of our students and our school teams.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting
• Ability to successfully complete and maintain a Basic First Aid and CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
• Assists with evaluating and testing students
• Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
• Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
• Monitors students whereabouts and observe student safety
• Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
• Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty
